Bozeman condo

Directions

If you’re coming to the condo from 19th Ave, be careful crossing 20th since it’s an intersection with no stop signs in any direction (it’s a Montana thing) so look for crossing traffic. When you pull into the Southbrook Condo complex, take a left and it’s the third driveway on the right (first set of garages). You can park in the driveway or else in the parking spaces across the street from the garage. Walk to the left of the garages and it’s upstairs.

Spare key

In case you can’t get in the front door for whatever reason (code doesn’t work or battery is dead): garage keypad code is 0719. There’s a key to the front door on a nail inside the left side of the garage that you can use if you lift up the keypad on the front door lock.

Water heater

If you need to turn on the water heater

  1. run hot water at sink to remove any hydrogen gas in the pipes
  2. turn on water to heater (blue handle above red handle) in utility closet under stairs
  3. turn on water heater circuit breaker in electrical panel

Wi-Fi

network: sunnyvale

password: bubbles. (include the period at the end)

Heat

Leave thermostats on to prevent pipes from freezing (manual: https://digitalassets.resideo.com/damroot/Original/10014/69-1803ES.pdf?_ga=2.72052758.489561820.1669422463-672363169.1668616220)

trash: monday

recycling: every other monday (Aug 1, 15)

Kitchen

Please feel free to use coffee, oil, spices, pantry staples, etc. They are there to be used! We just ask that you replace/replenish anything that you use up entirely.

The coffeemaker is an Aeropress. It’s easy to use (https://aeropress.com/pages/how-it-works).

Recommendations

Food

Bakery: Wild Crumb

Restaurants: Revelry (downtown, pricey), Blackbird (downtown, Italian, also pricey), Tanglewood (also pricey, indoor/outdoor with several other food options at that location), Roost (near condo, chicken/diner with outdoor seating, good fried pickles). Also heard good things about Farmacy (vegetarian options) and Pazeekah (Indian).

Breweries: Montana Ale Works (downtown, popular and crowded), Bozeman Brewing Co (neighborhood locals/dive), Bridger Brewing (more family-friendly), MAP Brewing (great view of Bridger Range)

Things to do

It’s recommended to bring bear spray on hikes and mountain bike rides — there are two canisters in the condo. Also, Gaia GPS is a great app to download maps before you head out (there’s very little reception out there) that can show your location on the map so you don’t get lost. Afternoon thunderstorms are common.

In town: Walk/run/mountain bike from condo to Peets Hill (2mi) then continue north on bike path to downtown

Gallagator Trail: dirt bike path in town

Bike path northeast of town, about 5 miles to a couple of short hikes (College M and Drinking Horse trailheads)

Sourdough Canyon walk/run/mountain bike(out and back): popular, low gradient fire road.

Bear Canyon walk/run/mountain bike(out and back): dirt road.

Lava Lake hike: short, moderately steep, very popular (crowded on weekends). 2.5 miles to lake

Hyalite Canyon: Hyalite Lake/Peak hike: long (6.5 miles out) but not steep unless you want to climb Hyalite Peak from the lake. Also Hyalite Reservoir is a popular large lake.

Leverich Canyon: steeper hiking, more technical mountain biking

Climbing: see Bozeman climbing guidebook

Downhill Skiing: Big Sky is amazing and extremely expensive (buy online ahead of time). It’s about an hour away. Bridger Bowl is a great cheaper option, about 30 minutes away. For backcountry skiing, a good source of information is the local shop Uphill Pursuits.

Cross Country Skiing: Bridger Ski Foundation grooms trails in and near town, see their website for trail maps and grooming information.
